Katyuli Lloyd

Katyuli is an artist, illustrator and designer who frequently takes on commissions.

An advocate of drawing from life, Katyuli believes it brings a vitality and immediacy which copying from a photograph can never produce.

Of English, Russia and French heritage, Katyuli spent a lot of time as a child on the artistic Greek island of Hydra. She studied Modern & Medieval Languages at Clare College, Cambridge, and has a Masters in Children's Book Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art. Her illustrations for Virginia Woolf’s novel Flush, 1933, were short-listed for the V&A Illustration Awards. In 2017, and from her studio at Clementi House, Kensington Church Street, Katyuli produced new book cover designs for The Folio Society’s editions of Patrick Leigh Fermor’s Mani (1958) and Roumeli (1966).

She has sold her designs at The British Museum, The Fitzwilliam Museum, the Benaki Museum, Athens, as well as Tate, St Ives. From 2020-21, Katyuli was Artist-in-Residence at Marlborough College.
