Sarah Abercrombie

Sarah works with combinations of printmaking processes and techniques including carving into wood and lino, and drawing and mark making into surfaces to create layered printed images. Her original screenprint, collagraph, linocut and woodcut prints with chine colle are inspired by being immersed in natural surroundings and are influenced by Japanese woodblock printmaking. Sarah makes observations on location through drawing and photography, and later merges them in her printmaking garden studio. The process of composing her textured narrative prints, that sometimes feature birds, people and specific places is intuitive and the outcomes are often semi abstract.
